Colton Williams (left) from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Luis Vargas (middle) and L.J. Diaz both representing Wayland Baptist University were just three of the 84 players from 66 college baseball programs who competed in the four-team, six-game Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational.

When people look back on 2020 and the first baseball game played in the United States amid the Coronavirus pandemic, history will show that Wooter Apparel was front and center as the chosen customized jersey for the 2020 Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational at Travis Park in Bryan, Texas.

Not only will the highlight footage from the three day, six game tournament broadcasted on ESPN2 and the eye-popping photos tell the story, but the players who were fortunate enough to wear the custom-made Red, White, and Blue will not soon forget what it meant to step on the field to showcase their talents.

Needless to say, even without fans in the stands and with Major League Baseball Scouts having to evaluate players digitally, these 84 prospects left it all out on the field.

After a three month break from baseball due to COVID-19, players picked up right where they left off. Team Liberty came out on top as the 2020 CSBI Champions by defeating Team Freedom, 5-4 in the championship game. While Team Unity was the first team eliminated in the tournament, Team Independence fell in the Semifinals after an overtime home run derby decided the victor, thanks to a huge showing from Luis Vargas (Wayland Baptist University) from Team Liberty.

Well worth the wait, Luis Vargas (Wayland Baptist University) hit three home runs by himself to give Team Independence the victory over Team Unity in a Home Run Derby on Day 1 of the Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational.

The Championship game was highlighted by an impressive defensive showing by both Team Freedom and Team Liberty, as the two teams combined for just 10 hits in the game. Even more remarkable is how Team Liberty staved-off elimination in back-to-back games to capture the championship. It says a lot about the fighting spirit of the players on the team, as much as it does about the CSBI to pull off such a memorable event.

In partnering with Wooter Apparel the CSBI came up big in their efforts to ensure a safe venue and entertaining three days of baseball in Texas.
